Floored

When we first saw this house of ours Mom was slighlty dismayed that there was carpet under the dining area. And not just any carpet; long shaggy carpet. Not a great idea with three messy spilly boys. We decided that that would be one of the first things that we would really change about our new abode. The time has finally come to reveal the new changes. The before, during, and after shots.  We did all the removal and prep work and we hired someone for the install.

 See the gross dirty carpet?
I blame the gross dirty kitchen floor on my anticipation for new floors, I didn't spend much time cleaning when I knew we were just going to be getting new floors!

Ripping up the old linoleum was a lot of work and we also discovered that the kitchen had been raised, so we needed to raise the dining area to  make it be on the same level.
The boys just wanted to be involved in everything. especially Colin who would have loved to explore old tack strips by eating them.  He wasn't thrilled about being caged in the play pin.

Adam and Kyle wanted to be big helpers too.
Taking up the old floor was a bit easier than expected, but it was still a lot of work.

Soon the pergo was here and it only took two days for the install. The fridge was in the family room and the oven was out of commission for a few days. but we think it was worth the sacrifice of cold meals.

the finished product. Mom actually enjoys keeping the new floor clean and the boys love sliding on it with their socks.

not to shabby looking, what do you think?
next? new tables and chairs so we don't have to worry about scratching the floor.

Colin Blake, the One-Year-Old

Sweetest Colin, we are so happy that we have had you in our family for one whole year! we wanted to make this day so special for you and we had so much fun!

you loved sampling the cake, you have an awesome sweet tooth we discovered!

then we went and played frisbee golf with the whole family, including Grandma Cook, Aunt Milla, and Uncle Jared!
For dinner we had your favorites; chicken nuggets, peas, and a new favorite, french fries.
You really got into opening presents, with great Grandma and Grandpa Bassett there too

You liked your box of tissues, and you absolutly loved your cake!

You got so dirty that you needed a bath, but with new bath toys that was so much fun!
Mama loved the snuggles after everything wound down.  You are such a sweet snugly boy. You have six teeth, pull yourself up on things, and like to say baba (bottle) mama and dada.  You haven't showed much interest in walking yet but that is just fine, especially if you stay as snugly as you are now.  You are 29 inches tall and weigh almost 18 pounds. You eyes are not quite blue anymore and many people think that they are turning brown :) You have started to show that you are a little bit of a tease and that silly grin of yours can melt any heart. We love you so much Colin and we are so happy that you are a part of our family!

Sweet music

Adam recently has shown a desire to have piano lessons. His cousin Stephanie has been teaching him and we think he is doing pretty well. It is fun to hear scales and little songs from Adams little fingers. Good work Monkey!

cabin fever

The weather has been awesome for February, it feels like spring already. Unfortunately my little Kyle Chase who loves being outside has been stuck inside for a couple of days as he fights off what I think may be food poisoning. If you know Kyle you know that this monkey is always go go go and so it was a very rare but special occurrence that he fell asleep in my arms one evening.

We can't wait till this little one feels better.
We love seeing Grandma on facetime, she can brighten anyone's day!
