March Madness!

If you are looking for a basket ball post this is not it.
holy moly.
That is about how I feel about march right now.  In the last few weeks so much has happened I don't know where to begin. Lets start about where my last post left off. On the 8, I spent the day up in Pleasant Grove with my mom and sister. We played games, hung out and most importantly that night my baby sister went through the temple for the first time.  Ashley was beautiful and it was so exciting to be there in that special place with most of my siblings (Sherri and Darren excepted).  We all went out to dinner after.  The next big day was Friday the 11th.  We had a sisters bridal shower in the morning, a wedding dinner in the evening and a bachelorette party in the late PM. All the girls had a blast, but it was such a long day! On Saturday my sister Ashley married her sweetheart in the Mount Timp Temple. The whole day was Beautiful, especially Ashley. I am so proud of her and her good decisions. I really look up to her a lot.
This last week, what I thought was teething was really an ear infection.  Adam is doing a lot better now. Actually he is doing great. He is an active little eight month old, who pretty much refuses to eat anything unless it is finger food!  he loves cheerios and soft fruits and vegetables, but if it requires a spoon to get into his mouth, he simply wont take it... silly monkey
but he is getting pretty fast at getting those things in his mouth!
Did I mention he has also started climbing? before I grabbed the camera he was on his back on the cushion
he has also started walking...ish :) (video wouldn't load)
and with support he loves running!

Movie Movie!

If you know me really well (which only a few people do;) you know that I love quoting movies and then making you try to guess which movie I quoted.  Such as "there's a macaroni on my head"!  movies that are quotable make my day.  I just watched a new one a couple days ago called "mega mind". Loved it! already a favorite quoter. "How did you get past my door man?... * whimper* Carlos?"  In fact, a lot of my favorite movies are pixars.  Yes, Toy Story three almost made me cry and I did bawl within the first ten minutes of UP.  Whoever writes those scripts is my hero for today. "look, I'm Picasso!... uh I don't get it...".  So here is todays task.  name your favorite movie ... or... name your favorite quote from a movie or even just one that comes to mind.  and the next time I see you I may just challenge you to a quoting duel. :) (I do not think that means what you think it means) hehehe. Have a great day!

and...
my smart little man is getting so big!
Such a sweetheart!

song and dance

because a day without a picture or video of Adam is just... well, text!

a new idea

This little kid of mine certainly does keep me busy. Adam is now scooting every where and getting into everything! some of his favorite activities are "running" singing and dancing, trying to get any book I'm reading, and playing peek-a-boo.  He also enjoys frustrating me by not wanting to eat any solid foods (unless it is not what he should be eating) He is now right around 16 pounds and learning new ways to explore everyday.  This week Nathaniel and I have registered for the Top of Utah Marathon.  It will be my first, Nathaniel's second.  I've already been running a couple times, and aside from dying the first time, I am feeling pretty good! Adam enjoys the ride and getting out side almost as much as I do :)
My cousin gave me an idea about blogging that I am going to take and run with.  There is a list of thirty things to write about...I most likely wont post every day but at least it has given me a new idea.
I often ask my husband what song he has in his head at a given moment.  More often than not he says "slippery fish" because that is the first song that pops into his head.  He would also say that one of his favorite songs is "unwritten". its one of mine too.  We both like the idea of starting each day with a blank page and choosing what we wright on it as we go along.
If you asked Adam what his favorite song is he would probably say patty-cake (I'm not even sure that is a legit song) he sure seems to like it though.
As for me, my favorite song changes along with the weather, and what plays it'self most frequently through my mind. Today 'Your the Inspiration'  by Chicago strikes my fancy. Not only is this song filled with nostalgia, but it is incredibly well done.  Not to mention a killer music video. Classic.I grew up on Chicago, love that group.  Just because, I got onto Youtube and watched this song as a music video...have you ever done that? wow. it made my day.
What is your favorite song and why? Also, what is the first song that comes to mind when someone asks or what song are you thinking about right now? Do share :)

he makes me laugh

when I know he is teething (I just put him on the couch and he cries, until he inserts the camera into his mouth that is)
He does this to himself, and thinks its hilarious!

wowsers

This morning Adam decided that not only would he start rolling continuously (right off the bed in fact but no worries because we only have a mattress in the floor and it is less than a ten inch drop and he laughed each time) but he also decided to start mimicking mamama and dadada when we said it :) this was a special treat seeing as though we are celebrating Nathaniel's birthday today! Happy birthday schatzie and good job Adam!

P.S.  I got the news yesterday that I am going to be a great Aunt (and by great I mean that my niece who got married last year is going to have a baby!) So excited!

half a year?!

Yes, Adam is now six months old. time has been flying by and we are trying to take every opportunity to enjoy every second of it.  This new semester has brought with it some big changes.  Nathaniel now has the car most of the week, so other than shopping and laundry, I pretty much don't leave the house, that is unless I bundle Adam up for the occasional trek to the mail box or visits within the ward.  Last week Adam got his 6 month check-up. He is now:
26 inches long (45th percentile)
42 cm head (17th percentile)
14.8 pounds(around 8th percentile) the low weight is due to his recent growth spurt! His weight will catch up!
He also has started eating solids. First up was rice cereal, then avocados, now he is eating pureed carrots. He pretty much feeds himself when I put food on his spoon.
 With his left hand
And with his right hand, he is quite ambidextrous!
yum, avocados!
He chews on his bottle, like his pacifier, and uses it as a toy.He can also drink from a cup (still doesn't like his bottle) he drinks water and apple juice.
One of his favorite activities is playing the piano and reading books. Just this last week Adam started having separation anxiety whenever I leave the room. It is sweet to know he wants me and I keep reminding myself that it is just a phase... I hope!

Otherwise he is still our happy little boy!

Where is that doohicky?

I have a post all ready to post... all except for the pictures, and since it is Adam eating, I have to include pictures... Now where is that cable thing-a-ma-jig so's I can upload them? hmmm

Blah

Every once in a while I just have to write down something that is on my mind so it wont be on my mind anymore. If that even makes any sense.  It is like one of those English assignments that you get where the teacher tells you to begin writing and don't stop for 15 minutes and see where you end up.  Really, you don't have to read this, this is just a rambling post.  I feel blah. Yesterday I had a very mean headache all day long.  and then right there at the end my husband was an hour later then he said he would be and didn't answer my texts or calls... talk about worry. I hate that feeling. he came home safely, explained that he didn't have any reception where he was and was very sorry. There was really nothing to forgive. I love him so much. Just by that time my head was hurting so much and I was so exhausted that I promptly fell asleep, at nine thirty.  Though my head ache was gone this morning I really had no desire to get up. so I didn't, not until Nathaniel was at school and Adam started making noises around 8:15.  He was happy so I was actually motivated to at least get myself ready for the day. he even let me take a little nap. maybe that was the wrong thing to do though cause now my head is hurting again and I keep thinking that all I want to do is get out of this apartment that I've been in for the last three days straight but the weather is below freezing outside, Adam is sleeping and I don't have a car. I don't even know where I would go if I did have a car.  I am way to blessed to be feeling so blah.  Maybe I should eat more fruits and veggies...unfortunately chocolate oranges and cherry kisses don't count.  Well Adam woke up and I get to do the best job in the world... being a mom!

Merry Merry Christmas!

We'll let the pictures do most of the talking

 Adams new Bumbo chair!
Wiggly!
Christmas dinner.

Photo Shoot at the family Christmas Party

We had a a blast playing win it in a minute games, eating super yummy waffles, and of course taking photos of the babies. Nathaniel's cousin welcomed little Jesslyn Justien two days before Thanksgiving.
She is a big little one. Congrats Wilsons!

Our Favorite gift this Christmas

Uncle Veloy also took a lot of pics of the little ones and they turned out gorgeous!
His eyes are blue...you can almost see it even in black and white.
My beautiful baby boy :)

Cocoa and Games

Ah the season of family and friends.  We invited our good friends the Klemetsons over for Hot Cocoa and games and had a blast.  Little Eliza was born on the same day as Adam and they had a fun time getting to know each other a little better.
So cute that they started holding hands :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

After we got home from California for Thanksgiving, Nathaniel and I got to work getting ready for Christmas.  This is our first Christmas together and at home (last year we were in California). But unlike last year we were unable to buy a real Christmas tree because the apartments we live in don't allow it :(  We decided to go for a fake one instead and it turned out pretty beautiful and it cost less than a real tree would have :)

 Getting started
 Adam enjoyed watching
 Almost done
and finished!
It was super fun decorating and finally feeling ready for the Holiday

Little Sitter

In the last few weeks, Adam has experienced a few major firsts that we are so excited about.  Number one, his first big road trip.  We went to California for Thanksgiving to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Cook and his Aunts and Uncle.  We were also able to visit my sister Sherri and we met my niece Kimberly's fiancée Andrew. Adam was an angle for the trip.  While there we decorated for Christmas (after Thanksgiving ;). This included making gingerbread houses
Nathaniel and I combined our creative juices and made a mansion together, complete with log cabin on the roof and helicopter and launch pad!
Grandma and Grandpa Cook made a lighthouse for theirs... I have never seen a cooler "ginger bread" house (ok, technically we used grahm crackers but still awesome )
Another big first for Adam is sitting without support! ta da!
I guess no one told him he wasn't supposed to do that for a little while longer.
He has also started eating a little rice cereal every day and he loves it. Yesterday he took the spoon from my hand and shoved it in his own mouth.  Adam is such a delight; he cracks me up constantly.
Lately we have discovered that Adam is extremely claustrophobic... and I didn't even know that was possible for a baby his age. Every time anything covers his mouth, or his nose, or both, or even his eyes he starts holding his breath and kicking his legs super fast and freaking out in general. A couple times he has been so scared he's started to cry, I've tried to explain to him that he can still breathe with something there, but what can be done he is only four months old :)

We finally got Adam rolling over on camera!

Juice!

Nathaniel thought it was time to teach Adam an essential life skill... making juice!
Also, some more pics of our little boy... just cause :)
Playing with his hands.
 With great Grandma Bassett
He's turning into a little boy... no longer a newborn.

Halloween!

We had a fun Halloween, including a costume party with some friends and a ward trunk or treat.  Our little monkey went as... a little monkey! Thanks to Aunt Sherri who got the costume for Adam.  Nathaniel and I went to the ward party as "football" (soccer) fans from our respective missions. (it was cheap and only took a couple minutes) here are some pictures.
Adam was having a hard night, so by the end his arms were zipped  up in the monkey suit.
 Such a cute little monkey!

At the costume party (only the babies dressed up) we also decorated Halloween sugar cookies. They were really tasty!

The Best Year of our Lives

One year ago (give or take a couple of weeks) I married my best friend, and this last year has consequentially been the best year of my life.  I have learned that I married the most excellent sort of man. Nathaniel has stood patiently and even happily by my side through morning sickness, moving, different church callings, labor, midnight feedings (although in that case I guess he didn't "stand")  postpartum moodiness and a whole load of great memories too. I could not have asked for a more perfect husband for myself.  Friday (our anniversary he came home from work with this.
Actually with a dozen of these they were beautiful.  That night we did sealings in the Mount Timpanogus Temple, where we got married, and were treated to coldstone ice cream (yum) Thanks Jocelyn and Ryan for the ice cream and babysitting!
On our honeymoon we went to Park City.  Because we didn't want to cook or prepare meals and we wanted to keep the expenses fairly low, our first meal alone as a married couple was crumb doughnuts and milk.  We drank the milk out of the carton and I think we dipped the doughnuts in the lid.  Yes we are weirdos :) To commemorate that event the day after our anniversary we did the same. Fun memories.
After we went to a fun place called 'color me mine' where we painted our own ceramic stuff,
Nathaniel had a really cool design for his plate.
Such a great day to celebrate a most wonderful year. Can't wait to see what the next year brings!

Caramel Apples

Word to the unexperienced caramel apple makers... do not forget the water when melting the caramels. Other than having the caramel hard enough to break our teeth, this was a fun activity :)

3 months!

Adam has been hitting some impressive milestone in the past week or so. He is just over 24 inches long or you could say two feet tall! We finally caught one of his smiles on film but you can see that once he sees the camera he stops- silly monkey!

I got him a cool rattle that he just loves to hold on to and shake, this morning I caught him passing it from one hand to the other.
He also has started jabbering away when ever he isn't sleeping (including at 4:00 in the morning when he used to just fall back asleep) as you can imagine, it is a little difficult for me to sleep through!
As of yesterday, when I rolled him over for tummy time, this is what happened.
Adam has never gone up on his arms like that before and he seems to enjoy the view! Next step is rolling over, so no more sleeping on the couch!
For some reason, blogger is having a really hard time with the videos I am trying to upload... they are all on facebook if you can't see them here. Sorry about that. This is a snap shot of Adam giggling from the video.
